HIPS

Home Information Packs (HIPs) are a mandatory requirement for properties with one or more bedrooms from 14th of December 2007.
This document should include a 'home energy efficiency rating'.

In addition this Pack includes an Energy Performance Certificate, containing advice on how to cut carbon emissions and fuel bills.

Also included are documents such as a sale statement, searches and evidence of title. This is the first stage of Home Information Packs, which will soon be extended to smaller homes.

If you're a buyer, you should ask for a Home Information Pack, which contains an Energy Performance Certificate and a number of other compulsory documents.
